What does it take to podium at GFNY NYC?

by GFNY | January 1, 2018 | Uncategorized

You often ask us what it takes to win GFNY or podium in your age group. Check out the below results from 2017 to get a rough idea.

If you have never done the race, it’s easy to underestimate the challenge. Often, we hear from riders who tell us about their “personal record for a century” that was usually achieved on a pancake flat course.

If you have done it, you know what its 8,000 feet/2,500m of climbing feel like. It particularly stings during the relentless up and down in the middle half of the course directly following Bear Mountain.

And each year, the race gets more and more competitive. If anything, however, this should be an incentive for you to measure yourself with the best riders from over 90 countries. If nothing, you see where you truly stand and can build on your results. GFNY NYC is a race that takes a few attempts to get it just right, without overcooking or holding back too much.

Unlike Strava, Zwift and other online based activities, a race head-to-head on the roads with others will show what you’re really made of – and provides unparalleled satisfaction.
