GFNY Super Sunday: Indonesia and the French Alps Set the Stage for a Global Weekend of Racing
Inaugural GFNY Indonesia–Belitung and the 6th edition of GFNY La Vaujany–L’Alpe d’Huez headline this weekend’s GFNY action
New York City, June 18, 2026 –GFNY returns to two continents this weekend for another exciting Super Sunday, as cyclists from around the world gather for the inaugural GFNY Indonesia–Belitung and the sixth edition of GFNY La Vaujany–L’Alpe d’Huez. From the tropical shores of Belitung Island to the legendary mountain roads of the French Alps, both events offer riders a unique combination of challenge, scenery, and world-class race organization.
GFNY Indonesia – Belitung
This Sunday marks the inaugural edition of GFNY Indonesia–Belitung, bringing the GFNY race experience to one of Southeast Asia’s most spectacular island destinations.
The long course covers 127.3 km with 883 meters of elevation gain, featuring fast roads, rolling terrain, pristine beaches, and panoramic coastal vistas. Riders will race through the natural beauty of Belitung, an island known for its crystal-clear waters, granite rock formations, and welcoming atmosphere.
The race starts and finishes directly on the beach at the Recreation Zone Pantai Tanjung Pendam, located in the heart of Tanjung Pandan, the capital of Belitung.
“We are excited to bring GFNY to Belitung for the first time,” said GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “The island offers everything that makes a great GFNY destination: beautiful roads, stunning coastal scenery, excellent hospitality, and a unique cultural identity. Belitung is still a hidden gem for many international cyclists, and we are proud to showcase it to the global GFNY community. Riders can expect a fast and scenic race in a truly unforgettable setting.”
Race week activities begin on Friday with the GFNY Expo at the Gran Hatika Hotel, continuing through Saturday. Participants and guests will also gather for the VIP and Guest Integration Dinner on Friday evening, creating an opportunity for riders from across Indonesia and around the world to connect before race day.

GFNY La Vaujany – L’Alpe d’Huez
On the same day, riders will take on one of the most demanding and iconic races on the GFNY calendar as GFNY La Vaujany–L’Alpe d’Huez returns for its sixth edition.
Set in the heart of the French Alps, the race covers 151 km and features a formidable 4,172 meters of climbing. The course traverses some of cycling’s most celebrated mountain roads, including the Col de la Morte, Col d’Ornon, and the legendary 21 switchbacks of Alpe d’Huez.
While Alpe d’Huez is the most famous climb on the route, the race is often decided on the final ascent to Vaujany, where riders must find one last effort after a day of relentless climbing.
“La Vaujany embodies everything cyclists dream about when they think of the French Alps: dramatic mountain scenery, challenging climbs, and a genuine cycling culture. It is an incredible destination both on and off the bike,” said GFNY France CEO Cedric Haas. “And then there is Alpe d’Huez. Its 21 legendary switchbacks are among the most famous roads in cycling. Every rider should experience that climb at least once—and racing up it is an opportunity few cyclists ever forget.”
Race week festivities are centered at Place de la Fare. On Friday, VIP riders and guests will enjoy an exclusive supported group ride followed by a welcome aperitif. Saturday features a supported group ride open to all participants, alongside the Expo and race registration. The activities offer riders, families, and supporters an opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere of race week while connecting with the international GFNY community.
