GFNY Super Sunday results

Inaugural GFNY Indonesia–Belitung and the 6th edition of GFNY La Vaujany–L’Alpe d’Huez took place last Sunday

Last Sunday, cyclists on opposite sides of the globe experienced two very different but equally memorable GFNY races. The inaugural GFNY Indonesia–Belitung delivered a fast and tactical battle on the tropical roads of Belitung, while riders at GFNY La Vaujany–L’Alpe d’Huez in the French Alps faced challenging weather conditions that required organizers to prioritize athlete safety.

GFNY Indonesia – Belitung

The inaugural edition of GFNY Indonesia–Belitung delivered one of the most exciting races in GFNY Indonesia history. Under clear morning skies, riders rolled out from Tanjung Pendam Beach at 6:00 a.m., immediately setting a fast pace as competitors fought for position on the fast and flat roads of Belitung.

During the opening kilometers, a lead group of approximately 40 riders formed and maintained an impressive average speed of 48 km/h. Among them was 16-year-old Dwika Rahmatan, who held his place at the front of the race and showcased the strength of Indonesia’s emerging generation of cyclists.

The flat terrain kept the peloton largely intact throughout much of the race. The group remained together despite several attacks launched and neutralized along the Tanjung Kelayang, Sijuk and Membalong sectors.

The decisive move finally came after kilometer 90 when local riders Berry Putra and Andy Atmadja broke away from the main group. The pair worked together efficiently and established a gap of approximately one kilometer over the chase group.

As the race entered Tanjung Pandan and approached the finish at Tanjung Pendam Beach, Putra launched a decisive attack that Atmadja was unable to match. Berry Putra crossed the finish line in 3:13:10 to claim victory at the inaugural GFNY Belitung and secure the prestigious 2026 GFNY Asia Championship title. Andy Atmadja finished just seconds behind in second place, while Afandi Munir completed an all-Indonesian podium.

In the women’s race, Feeling Susanty (Indonesia) delivered a strong performance to take the win in 4:02:40, securing her place as the 2026 GFNY Asia Female Champion. Vera Kartika Chandra finished second, while Santi Ariska rounded out the podium in third place.

GFNY La Vaujany – L’Alpe d’Huez

Last Sunday, the picturesque mountain village of Vaujany welcomed riders from around the world for the sixth edition of GFNY La Vaujany–L’Alpe d’Huez.

Due to an Orange Heat Alert issued for the region and in consultation with local authorities, GFNY France modified the course to ensure the safety of participants, volunteers and staff. As a result, all riders competed on the medium course, which remained fully timed and counted toward the official race classifications. While only 60km long, it included the famous L’Alpe d’Huez climb and the final ascent to the finish in Vaujany, resulting in almost 2000m of climbing in such a short distance.

France’s Thibaut Clement emerged victorious after a thrilling sprint finish, crossing the line in 2:00:36. Multiple GFNY champion Tim Alleman (Belgium) finished just behind in second place, while Damien Jeanjean completed the men’s podium.

In the women’s race, GFNY Orcières 2025 champion Mara Manfredi (Italy) claimed victory in 2:27:54, finishing nearly four minutes ahead of Charlotte Vernette (France). Defending GFNY La Vaujany champion Meredith Byrne completed the podium in third place.

GFNY La Vaujany–L’Alpe d’Huez once again showcased the beauty and challenge of racing in the French Alps while highlighting the importance of adapting to extraordinary weather conditions to ensure a safe and successful event for all participants.
