Gran Premio New York City returns for fourth edition in 2027
UCI professional race to take place alongside the 15th Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC on May 16

New York City, November 2, 2026 – Gran Premio New York City (GP NYC) will return for its fourth edition on May 16, 2027, following confirmation of its place on the UCI International Road Calendar.
The UCI 1.2 men’s elite race will once again be held alongside the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC, bringing professional and amateur cycling together on the same course and on the same day. Professional teams will start approximately ten minutes ahead of thousands of GFNY riders on the George Washington Bridge, sharing one of the most demanding road racing courses in North America.
Bringing professional and amateur racing together
Since its introduction in 2024, GP NYC has pioneered a format that combines UCI professional racing with a major mass-participation cycling event. While the professional and amateur fields compete separately, they share the same roads, race infrastructure and event atmosphere. The format gives amateur riders the opportunity to race the same course as the professionals, while providing teams and sponsors with exposure to thousands of participating cyclists from around the world.
“Organizing professional cycling races as standalone events is increasingly difficult,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “By combining professional racing with an established mass-participation event, we can create opportunities for teams and riders while bringing fans closer to the sport. After three editions in New York, we’re continuing to develop this model.”
The Course
The 85-mile (137 km) course resembles a Belgian spring classic, favoring all-around riders with its challenging climbs and varied terrain. Starting on the George Washington Bridge, racers enjoy spectacular views of the Manhattan skyline and Hudson River before heading through the towns and scenic countryside of Bergen County, New Jersey, and Rockland County, New York.
The race finishes in Fort Lee, NJ, where riders and fans come together for the post-race festivities, just minutes from Manhattan.
Weekend Activations
Fans will have several opportunities to meet and interact with professional riders throughout race weekend. The official Team Presentation will take place on Saturday at the GFNY Village, with additional opportunities for autograph sessions and group rides.
The 15th annual NYC Bike Expo, held in conjunction with rider packet pickup at the GFNY Festival Village in Fort Lee on May 14 and 15, will serve as the center of race weekend activities. The expo also provides brands with direct access to thousands of cyclists from around the world.
Sponsorship Opportunities
GP NYC combines UCI professional racing with one of the world’s leading international mass-participation cycling events, offering sponsors a unique opportunity to reach both professional athletes and thousands of passionate amateur cyclists.
With both races taking place on the same course and on the same day, sponsors benefit from professional racing exposure alongside direct engagement with participants and spectators. Opportunities include event partnerships, brand visibility, expo presence and experiential activations throughout race weekend.
Companies interested in partnering with GP NYC are invited to contact GFNY to explore available sponsorship opportunities.
Building the GFNY Pro Series
Gran Premio New York City serves as the flagship event of the GFNY Pro Series, which brings professional racing to established GFNY events around the world.
The concept builds on GFNY’s global platform of mass-participation cycling races, creating opportunities to develop professional road racing within existing event infrastructure.
GP NYC 2027 will be held on Sunday, May 16, alongside the 15th Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC.
