GFNY partners with WHIP Live to provide riders free live tracking during all 2024 GFNY

 

 

NEW YORK CITY, March 15, 2024 – Italian company WHIP LIVE will provide free live tracking for riders at all GFNY in 2024. WHIP LIVE provides a distinctive system that enables participants to be monitored during an event solely using their smartphones, eliminating the need for expensive GPS and tracking hardware. This not only streamlines procedures for both participants and organizers but also offers an interactive experience to the public, allowing them to follow the event live through our 3D map.

 

“WHIP LIVE has selected GFNY to provide their Live Tracking services, allowing riders to be tracked by their friends and organizers to monitor participants via smartphones,” says Mauro Rosetti of WHIP Live. “We are delighted to collaborate on enhancing the event experience and safety for GFNY.”

GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme: ”Live tracking is obviously not new and is something we had wanted to offer for a decade to our riders. However, battery drainage had been holding us back. A system that empties your phone battery is useless. Running in the background with app closed, WHIP will drain only about 10% of a phone battery in a five hour race. Perfect!”

GFNY World Championship NYC

The 12th annual GFNY World Championship New York will be held on May 19, 2024. The race features the world’s most international peloton with riders from over 90 countries. It is so international, it’s often described as the United Nations of cycling. Athletes take on a challenging route to compete against each other, the clock and themselves in a personal endurance challenge.

Cycling – Pro Racing

Gran Premio New York City is the inaugural UCI 1.2 pro race on May 19, 2024. 25 professional teams will race the same course as riders at the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC – but with a 15 minute head start.

 

Running Marathons

GFNY Marathons bring the same concept and quality of the cycling races to running, whether it’s giving each runner a BE A PRO FOR A DAY experience, providing the mandatory-to-wear high-end singlet or the family-friendly destinations and organized races. GFNY Marathons are officially measured half- and full-marathon courses and as such, serve as qualifiers for Boston, NYC and the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
