The UCI professional race takes place alongside the 14th edition of GFNY New York City

NEW YORK CITY, April 1, 2026 – Big Hit Racing (USA) and Cannondale Echelon p/b 4iiii (Canada) have confirmed their participation in the third edition of Gran Premio New York City on May 17, 2026. Both Club teams strengthen an already competitive field of elite and professional squads set to race in the UCI-sanctioned event, held alongside the 14th edition of the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York City.

Gran Premio New York City (GP NYC) will take place on May 17, 2026, as a UCI-sanctioned professional road race held on the same course and on the same day as the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York City. The professional peloton will start approximately ten minutes ahead of the mass-participation field.

“As NYC’s fastest-growing elite racing team, racing GPNYC was an obvious desire” says Wes Tillman, Big Hit Racing Team Manager.  “The team has deep roots in NYC cycling culture, having won GFNY several times.  For us, this step up to GPNYC felt both like a natural progression and a chance to test our mettle at a world class event, against a UCI field on home roads in front of a home crowd. It’s an opportunity not a lot of teams get.”

Big Hit Racing Director Sportif Cesar Gallego adds: “We want to shape the outcome rather than follow it, and fight for a result in a way that puts us firmly at the front of the race”

Alain Cadorette, Team Owner of Cannondale Echelon p/b 4iiii, says: “Our team has made GPNYC a priority since its inauguration and we intend on making the final selection again aiming at another top 10 result.  We’re looking forward to the activation events the days prior to meet the GFNY cycling community.”

Held annually on a challenging road course in and around New York City, the event brings together riders from more than 90 countries who have earned their place through GFNY races and championships worldwide.

GFNY Pro Series

The GFNY Pro Series places UCI-sanctioned professional races directly alongside GFNY mass-participation events using the same courses and the same road closures.

The model was first implemented at Gran Premio New York City, where professional teams race the GFNY World Championship course shortly before the amateur start. GP NYC serves as the template for future Pro Series events.

The GFNY Pro Series expands selectively. Additional UCI races are added only where local conditions, funding, and infrastructure support sustainable professional competition. Planned events include Gran Premio Cozumel, held in conjunction with GFNY Cozumel, pending UCI approval.

GFNY is also evaluating the addition of women’s professional racing within the Pro Series, beginning with a potential women’s race in New York City, developed in partnership with organizations supporting the growth of women’s pro cycling.

Over 1000 riders compete in thrilling debut edition

New York City, March 25, 2026 – The inaugural GFNY Aguascalientes delivered an exciting day of racing, with more than 1,000 cyclists lining up at Isla San Marcos for a scenic yet demanding course featuring rolling terrain and the decisive 5 km climb of El Ocote.

The long distance race covered 145 km with 1,511 meters of climbing, including four key ascents that shaped the race. The action ignited on the first ascent of El Ocote, where an early breakaway of three riders formed, quickly gaining up to three minutes over the chasing group.  Behind them, a series of attacks gradually thinned the peloton as the strongest contenders emerged.

By the start of the second lap, the breakaway’s advantage had been reduced to one minute. On the second ascent of El Ocote, Mexican riders and GFNY standouts Flavio de Luna, a multiple-time GFNY champion, and Miguel Reyes, GFNY San Luis Potosí champion, bridged across to the leaders. The duo immediately accelerated, distancing all rivals and committing to the decisive move of the race.

The two leaders arrived together at the finish, where Reyes took the win in a sprint in 3:36:08, narrowly edging De Luna. They finished two minutes ahead of the chasers. Behind them, a select group of seven riders, including GFNY champion Luis Lemus, Christopher Hans, and Juan Manuel Villanueva, sprinted for the remaining podium position, with Villanueva securing third and completing an all-Mexican podium.

The women’s race saw two riders remain positioned within the main chasing group throughout the race. In the final sprint, Brenda Santoyo, runner-up at GFNY Mazatlán 2021, claimed victory ahead of Diana Rodriguez, runner-up at GFNY Lourdes Tourmalet 2024, winning in 3:49:31. GFNY San Luis Potosí champion Nancy Mercado completed the podium, finishing nearly 13 minutes behind.

Next on the global schedule is the fifth edition of GFNY Cannes in France on Sunday, April 12, 2026.

At kilometer 70, the course turns toward Santa Teresa de Cajón, climbing from 617 meters to 965 meters above sea level over about 8 kilometers of steady ascent. On the way to the top, you’ll enjoy beautiful views of Chirripó National Park and its surrounding mountain range, while also experiencing the region’s lush nature and green landscapes.

After the combination of climbs, hills, and mountain terrain, the course enters a false-flat section passing through the community of Rivas, before heading into the final kilometers of excitement and descent back to the finish line at Hotel del Sur.

GFNY debuts in Aguascalientes, Mexico this Sunday

Riders will tackle the striking desert landscapes

New York City, March 19, 2026 – The global GFNY series continues its expansion in Mexico this Sunday with the inaugural GFNY Aguascalientes, where riders will take on a demanding course through the striking desert landscapes surrounding the city. The competitive long distance covers 144.8 km with 1,511 meters of climbing, featuring rolling terrain and four notable ascents in the foothills of the Cerro del Muerto mountain range.

“Mexico has been one of the key markets for GFNY for over a decade, and we’re excited to add Aguascalientes to our calendar,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “Aguascalientes offers exactly the kind of terrain GFNY riders love: tough climbs, open roads and spectacular desert scenery. For GFNY, ‘Aguas’ is almost a homecoming because several of our key staff live and ride here. And from what they tell me, the course is even harder than it looks on paper. There will be no hiding in the peloton.”

Race week activities will be hosted at the Centro de Convenciones de la Isla San Marcos, including packet pickup, the GFNY Expo and a group ride with professional riders on Saturday at 7 a.m.

Riders will face a course featuring rolling hills and four notable climbs set against the impressive backdrop of the Cerro del Muerto mountain range. The highlight is the 5 km El Ocote ascent, a demanding climb that rewards riders with sweeping views of the surrounding rock formations and desert scenery.

Riders doing the non-competitive Medium distance  will complete one lap of the course totaling 78 km with 803 meters of climbing. With its varied terrain and scenic landscapes, GFNY Aguascalientes promises an exciting and memorable experience for riders of all levels.

About GFNY

This progression is known as the GFNY Road to NYC.

GFNY events feature fully timed racing with age-group competition and are open to a wide range of riders, combining competitive structure with accessible participation. GFNY operates its own integrated registration, results, and ranking system, maintaining direct relationships with participants across all events. About the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC

The Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York City is GFNY’s flagship race and the final step on the GFNY Road to NYC.

Professional fields start minutes ahead of the GFNY mass peloton, creating a shared race environment while maintaining clear competitive separation. This format increases visibility for teams and sponsors and allows professional racing to operate within existing event infrastructure.

The official website of the GFNY Pro Series’ flagship event, Gran Premio New York City, is gp.gfny.com.
