GFNY Super Sunday in LatAM
7th edition of GFNY Punta del Este and 5th edition of GFNY República Dominicana will take place this Sunday
GFNY Punta del Este (Uruguay)
The 7th GFNY Punta del Este features a 123.4 km course, with an elevation gain of 1,038 m. The race will start and finish at the Parador Pedro Figari beach club, located in the heart of glamorous Punta del Este, one of Latin America’s most iconic beach destinations. The course combines flat, hilly, and windy sections along pristine beaches, pine forests, luxury homes, and natural lakes. A post-race meal celebration and awards ceremony at the upscale Parador Pedro Figari beach club will cap off the unforgettable GFNY Punta del Este experience.
“GFNY Punta del Este was Uruguay’s first granfondo back in 2016 and has become a fall classic for South American riders,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “The new course makes the race more approachable for riders coming out of the Northern hemisphere winter. Montevideo is just an overnight flight away from North America and presents a super fun way to open the season in a top destination.”

GFNY República Dominicana
The 149.7 km race course with an elevation gain of 962 m at GFNY República Dominicana starts and finishes in the world-renowned Punta Cana, famous for its white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters.
“The flat to rolling course, with one side offering stunning views of lush green hills, and the other side overlooking the breathtaking Caribbean Sea, is ideal for a March race,” says GFNY President Lidia Fluhme. “GFNY riders, families, and friends can take advantage of the luxurious, fun and relaxing all-inclusive resorts of Punta Cana.”

The 13th annual Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York will be held on May 18, 2025. The race features the world’s most international peloton with riders from over 90 countries. It is so international that it’s often described as the United Nations of cycling. Athletes take on a challenging route to compete against each other, the clock, and themselves in a personal endurance challenge.

Cycling – Pro Racing
At Gran Premio New York City, professional teams race the same course as riders at the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC – but with a 10-minute head start. The second edition will be held on May 18, 2025.
Adding a women’s pro race would elevate the event further. The proposed format would have women starting 45 minutes ahead of the men’s pro race, giving them their own stage. However, the extended road closures required for this addition increase costs by $100,000.
For those interested in supporting women’s racing, GFNY is inviting companies and organizations to help sponsor this important addition. Contact GFNY to discuss partnership opportunities.
