GFNY Super Sunday in LatAm

GFNY Manta and GFNY Chile return for their 7th editions this weekend

This Sunday marks a major celebration for GFNY in Latin America, as both GFNY Manta-Ecuador and GFNY Chile return for their highly anticipated 7th editions. Riders from around the world will gather to take on two of South America’s most scenic and challenging courses, making this weekend a true “GFNY Super Sunday.”

GFNY Manta (Ecuador)

The 7th edition of GFNY Manta features a 115.3 km long course with 1632 meters of climbing, offering riders a demanding yet rewarding challenge along Ecuador’s Pacific coast. Both the start and finish will take place at the Hotel Wyndham Manta, the hub for all race activities.

“It’s great to return for the 7th edition of GFNY Manta, Ecuador’s first ever granfondo race,” says GFNY President Lidia Fluhme. “The unwavering support of the City of Manta has been instrumental in establishing this race as one of the best cycling events in Latin America. Manta’s commitment allows us to deliver a great experience for riders from Ecuador and around the globe, while also showcasing the city’s community, coastline, and hospitality.”

As part of race week, participants will enjoy the traditional GFNY Group Ride on Saturday, a social and scenic warm-up ride, as well as the integration dinner for VIPs and guests on Friday evening—an opportunity to connect with the GFNY family ahead of race day.

GFNY Chile

Meanwhile, south of the Equator, the 7th edition of GFNY Chile will take place in the renowned wine region of Casablanca. The 127.9 km long course with 1832 meters of climbing starts and finishes at the picturesque Casona Viña Veramonte, offering riders a blend of challenging terrain and breathtaking landscapes.

“GFNY Chile has quickly grown into one of the most iconic races on the GFNY calendar, attracting riders from across Latin America and around the world,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “What makes it truly unique is the Muro de Tunquén: a brutal wall of up to 27% gradient that has become legendary for testing every rider’s strength and spirit. Surrounded by the breathtaking Chilean coastline and fueled by the passion of local supporters, GFNY Chile delivers not just a race, but an unforgettable experience that embodies the essence of GFNY: Be A Pro For A Day.”

Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC

The 14th annual Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York will be held on May 17, 2026. Athletes take on a challenging route to compete against each other, the clock, and themselves in a personal endurance challenge.

The official Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC website is NYC.GFNY.COM.

Cycling – Pro Racing

At Gran Premio New York City, professional teams race the same course as riders at the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC – but with a 10-minute head start. The third edition will be held on May 17, 2026.

Adding a women’s pro race would elevate the event further. The proposed format would have women starting 45 minutes ahead of the men’s pro race, giving them their own stage. However, the extended road closures required for this addition increase costs by $100,000.

For those interested in supporting women’s racing, GFNY is inviting companies and organizations to help sponsor this important addition. Contact GFNY to discuss partnership opportunities.
