GFNY debuts in Aguascalientes, Mexico this Sunday

Riders will tackle the striking desert landscapes

New York City, March 19, 2026 – The global GFNY series continues its expansion in Mexico this Sunday with the inaugural GFNY Aguascalientes, where riders will take on a demanding course through the striking desert landscapes surrounding the city. The competitive long distance covers 144.8 km with 1,511 meters of climbing, featuring rolling terrain and four notable ascents in the foothills of the Cerro del Muerto mountain range.

“Mexico has been one of the key markets for GFNY for over a decade, and we’re excited to add Aguascalientes to our calendar,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “Aguascalientes offers exactly the kind of terrain GFNY riders love: tough climbs, open roads and spectacular desert scenery. For GFNY, ‘Aguas’ is almost a homecoming because several of our key staff live and ride here. And from what they tell me, the course is even harder than it looks on paper. There will be no hiding in the peloton.”

Race week activities will be hosted at the Centro de Convenciones de la Isla San Marcos, including packet pickup, the GFNY Expo and a group ride with professional riders on Saturday at 7 a.m.

Riders will face a course featuring rolling hills and four notable climbs set against the impressive backdrop of the Cerro del Muerto mountain range. The highlight is the 5 km El Ocote ascent, a demanding climb that rewards riders with sweeping views of the surrounding rock formations and desert scenery.

Riders doing the non-competitive Medium distance  will complete one lap of the course totaling 78 km with 803 meters of climbing. With its varied terrain and scenic landscapes, GFNY Aguascalientes promises an exciting and memorable experience for riders of all levels.

GFNY Florida moves from Sebring to Hardee county this 2026

NEW YORK CITY, March 17, 2026 — GFNY USA announces that its Florida race will move to a new host location for 2026. After six previous editions in Sebring, the event will relocate to neighboring Hardee County and will be held as GFNY Florida Hardee on October 25, 2026.

We are deeply grateful for the strong support GFNY Florida has received from Sebring over the past six years,” said GFNY President Lidia Fluhme. “At the same time, evolving course challenges required us to evaluate alternative options. Hardee County has been an outstanding partner since 2021, when we shifted the course west of Sebring. In fact, the majority of the racecourse has taken place in Hardee County in recent years, making it the natural first choice for this transition.”

GFNY USA introduces a brand-new course that showcases the rural beauty and open roads of central Florida. The redesigned route will offer riders a fast and competitive racing experience. Hardee County provides an ideal setting for road cyclists with connecting rural, smooth roads, expansive farmland, and a welcoming local community. The new long and flat competitive course has 84 miles with only 800 ft of climbing. The recreational medium course has 45 miles with 400 ft of climbing.

Sprint finish at GFNY Punta del Este

De Oliveira and García win the eighth edition

New York City, March 17, 2026 – The eighth edition of GFNY Punta del Este took place under ideal racing conditions, with sunny skies, a steady temperature of 24°C and almost no wind. The race featured a 124.2 km course with 967 m of climbing.

Starting in the heart of Punta del Este, riders headed out on a scenic course along one of the most spectacular coastal roads in South America overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The route included the iconic climb of Punta Ballena, which riders tackled from both sides during the race.

The peloton remained largely together until kilometer 86, when a small breakaway formed. However, it was soon reeled back in by a chasing group of approximately 35 riders.

On the descent following Punta Ballena, defending 2025 GFNY Punta del Este champion Ítalo De Oliveira (Brazil) launched a decisive attack with 8 km remaining, opening a gap of roughly 500 meters. De Oliveira maintained the advantage all the way to the finish line, taking the win in 3:02:42 and claiming his second consecutive GFNY Punta del Este title. Diones Chinelatto (Argentina) finished second in 3:02:56, while Roberto Rodrigues (Brazil) completed the podium in 3:02:57.

In the women’s race, 2024 GFNY Punta del Este champion Mariana García (Uruguay) delivered an outstanding performance, riding with the men’s groups for much of the race to take victory in 3:03:02. Sabrina López (Argentina) finished second, followed by Antonella Orique (Uruguay) in third place.

Next on the global schedule is the inaugural GFNY Aguascalientes in Mexico on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

The UCI pro race is held together with GFNY’s 14th NYC edition

NEW YORK CITY, March 11, 2026 – Dutch Continental Universe Cycling Team has confirmed its participation in the third edition of Gran Premio New York City, scheduled for May 17, 2026. The team joins a growing roster of professional squads set to compete in the UCI-sanctioned race held alongside the 14th edition of the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York City.  As one of the prominent teams on the international Continental circuit, Universe Cycling will aim for a strong performance on the demanding New York City course.

Gran Premio New York City (GP NYC), will take place on May 17, 2026, as a UCI-sanctioned professional road race held on the same course and on the same day as the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York City, with the professional field starting approximately ten minutes ahead of the mass-participation race. The two events are conducted as separate competitions under their respective regulations, sharing the same roads and infrastructure.

GP NYC is a high-profile race in an iconic setting. It’s a great opportunity for us to compete in a city like New York” says team rider Bart Buijk. We will race proactively, aim to be part of the early breakaway and see if our fast guys can survive the hilly part of the race. If that happens, we will be in contention for the podium.”

About the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC

The Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship New York City is GFNY’s flagship race and the final step on the GFNY Road to NYC.

Held annually on a challenging road course in and around New York City, the event brings together riders from more than 90 countries who have earned their place through GFNY races and championships worldwide.

The official website of the Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC is

GFNY Pro Series

The GFNY Pro Series places UCI-sanctioned professional races directly alongside GFNY mass-participation events using the same courses and the same road closures.

Professional fields start minutes ahead of the GFNY mass peloton, creating a shared race environment while maintaining clear competitive separation. This format increases visibility for teams and sponsors and allows professional racing to operate within existing event infrastructure.

The model was first implemented at Gran Premio New York City, where professional teams race the GFNY World Championship course shortly before the amateur start. GP NYC serves as the template for future Pro Series events.

The GFNY Pro Series expands selectively. Additional UCI races are added only where local conditions, funding, and infrastructure support sustainable professional competition. Planned events include Gran Premio Cozumel, held in conjunction with GFNY Cozumel, pending UCI approval.

GFNY is also evaluating the addition of women’s professional racing within the Pro Series, beginning with a potential women’s race in New York City, developed in partnership with organizations supporting the growth of women’s pro cycling.

The official website of the GFNY Pro Series’ flagship event, Gran Premio New York City, is gp.gfny.com.
