Inaugural GFNY San Luis Potosí closes 15th GFNY season

Mercado and Reyes win the GFNY North American Championship

New York City, December 10, 2025 – Last Sunday, cyclists from around the world lined up for the inaugural edition of GFNY San Luis Potosí, that also served as the GFNY North American Championship, closing the 15th season of the GFNY Global Endurance Sports Series.

Riders faced a demanding 123 km long course with 1,900 meters of climbing, dominated by the iconic La Placa climb, which alone accounted for nearly 1,800 meters of elevation gain.

The action exploded early. Within the first 15 kilometers, a powerful breakaway of eight strong riders formed, including José Miguel Reyes, runner-up at GFNY Zapopan 2023 champ Salvador Lemus, and Christopher Hans who was runner-up at GFNY Cozumel 2023. The group pushed hard into the main climb, where multiple attacks began to fracture the front of the race. Reyes was aggressive on the ascent, launching several decisive moves as the selection narrowed to four riders.

Midway up La Placa, Mercado delivered a solid attack that the other couldn´t match, his descent was fast, opening a gap of nearly two minutes over his closest rivals. He maintained his advantage and powered alone towards the finish line, entering the historic center of San Luis Potosí to roaring crowds before claiming an emphatic solo victory and the GFNY North American Championship title.  He finished the race in 2:52:21.  Behind him, the fight for the remaining podium places came down to a fierce sprint finish between Lemus and Hans who completed the podium.

In the women’s race, Nancy Mercado from Team Fugacoaching (Mexico) took the win in 03:20:45 followed by Sofia Rodriguez (Team Liv Mexico) and Annete Rivera, making it an all Mexican podium.

GFNY is looking ahead to season 16 which will bring yet again old classics and new races, including another UCI pro race, a full highway closure in Miami, national championships and much more.

New York City, December 3, 2025 – GFNY Global Endurance Sports Series is thrilled to announce that the 2026 edition of Michelob ULTRA GFNY Miami will feature a fully closed course, delivering a race experience that is safe, fast, and truly worthy of GFNY’s “Be a Pro for a Day” motto.

All four lanes of State Highway 997, also known as Krome Avenue, will be completely closed to traffic, offering participants a safe, fast and uninterrupted course. In doing so, GFNY ensures every rider, from recreational cyclists to elite competitors, enjoys an uninterrupted, traffic-free course.

Closing Krome Avenue for GFNY has been in the works for two years,” says GFNY President Lidia Fluhme. “We appreciate the support of Florida DOT to make this happen in 2026 to offer riders an even safer race experience.”

The first two editions were held on single closed to traffic lanes north- and southbound, with regular traffic coned off to the other lanes and moderated by police support. The closure of the entire highway will offer a spectacular “playground” for the riders from around the world.

4th GFNY Puerto Rico won by defending champions

Christopher Morales and Erialis Otero secure dominant victories

New York City, November 26, 2025 – Ponce hosted the fourth edition of GFNY Puerto Rico this past Sunday, where riders took on a brand-new, dominantly flat 115.3 km course featuring just 556 meters of climbing.

Under ideal weather conditions, local riders Bryan León and Alexander Cintrón launched a decisive attack at kilometer 33, breaking away from the peloton. They were reeled in at kilometer 50 by defending champion Christopher Morales, who then worked with the duo to establish a strong lead—until Cintrón eventually lost contact.

By kilometer 65, the chase group—featuring GFNY Florida Sebring 2025 champion Ramon Pallone (Italy), GFNY República Dominicana 2025 champion Elvys Noel (Puerto Rico), Carlos Duque (Colombia) and locals Kevin Torres and Víctor Cartagena —caught up. But Morales launched a powerful attack from kilometer 108 to the finish, securing the victory in 2:50:41. Pallone finished second, and Duque completed the podium in third.

In the women’s race, four-time GFNY champion Erialis Otero (Puerto Rico) delivered another commanding performance, taking the win in 2:56:08 ahead of Ana Mejía (USA), with Shari Krepps (Puerto Rico) finishing third.

Next up on the GFNY calendar is the inaugural edition of GFNY San Luis Potosi which will take place on Sunday, December 7, 2025 which will also serve as the GFNY North American Championship.

14th NYC Bike Expo 2026 held May 15-16

Exhibitors get to present their products and connect with riders

New York City, October 24, 2025 -The NYC Bike Expo returns for its 14th annual edition, taking place May 15–16, 2026 in Fort Lee. The premier road cycling show will once again attract thousands of visitors, including avid cyclists, endurance athletes, and cycling enthusiasts from around the world.

Exhibitors will present the latest in cycling technology, gear, and events. Exhibiting brands have included Mercedes, T-Mobile, BMC, Ekoï, DeRosa, Mavic,  Specialized, Pinarello, Campagnolo, ELITE, Cannondale, Vittoria, and many more. NYC Bike Expo offers a unique opportunity for brands to showcase their products, connect directly with athletes, and engage with an international cycling audience.

Serving as the mandatory in-person packet pick-up for athletes racing the 14th Michelob ULTRA GFNY World Championship NYC and the 3rd UCI pro race Gran Premio New York City, the expo is also open to the public with free admission, drawing non-GFNY participants and cycling fans eager to experience the excitement of race weekend.

In-person exposure opportunities are more rare these days so they are even more valuable than they used to be,” says GFNY President Lidia Fluhme. “The touch and feel of products remains important for consumers, whether they end up buying on the spot or field items for their next online purchase. We go to expos ourselves for direct interactions with riders. There is no better way to get a pulse on what riders want than talking to them face to face.

Located once again in Fort Lee, NJ, the venue places the expo at the heart of GFNY and GPNYC during race week. Visitors and exhibitors benefit from easy access and ample affordable parking. The expo is integrated with race activities and lies near the start/finish point of the pre-race group rides.

Exhibitors can choose to participate for two or three days. The main expo runs Friday and Saturday, May 15–16, with an optional race-day exhibition on Sunday, May 17, offering additional visibility to race participants and spectators.

Booth options include outdoor spots in front of the Expo tent, ideal for smaller exhibitors or those with trailers and non-traditional setups.

Exhibitors are invited to contact Santiago at to reserve booth space.  Early bird pricing ends on November 30, 2025.

4th GFNY Puerto Rico this Sunday

Riders will tackle a stunning new coastal route

New York City, November 20, 2025 – The 4th edition of GFNY Puerto Rico is set to take place in the vibrant region of Ponce. Riders will tackle the brand new 115.3 km course featuring just 556 meters of climbing, with both start and finish at the Hotel Ponce Hilton Resort.

“After last year’s race, our riders told us they wanted a course that feels more accessible,” says GFNY President Lidia Fluhme. “So instead of sending the race inland into the mountains, we’ve secured a coastal route. It delivers the best of both worlds: the front of the race will be fast and competitive, while those focused on the personal challenge have a much better chance to reach the finish.”

Riders will enjoy GFNY Puerto Rico’s social group rides on Friday and Saturday—an opportunity to warm up, connect with fellow cyclists, and preview part of the route in a relaxed setting. On Saturday afternoon, athletes are invited to a Happy Hour at 4 p.m., a festive pre-race gathering before the excitement of Sunday.

12th GFNY Cozumel successful test ahead UCI pro race in 2026

Diego Galvez and Andrea Ramirez take the win ahead of 2000 riders

New York, November 19, 2025 – 2000 riders from around the world lined up for the 12th edition of GFNY Cozumel, the largest GFNY race in Latin America. This year’s 154.3 km course delivered perfect weather conditions and with significantly less wind than in previous editions—conditions that set the stage for an even faster race. The race served as the last test ahead of the planned UCI pro race Gran Premio Cozumel which will be held on November 8, 2026, just minutes ahead of GFNY. GFNY is expanding the concept of adding UCI pro races ahead of a GFNY after launching this revolutionary format in 2024 with GP New York City.

From the gun, the pace was intense, holding an average speed of 47–48 km/h. By kilometer 20, a group of 40 riders had formed at the front, launching repeated attacks. At km 30, a decisive move saw ten riders break away: GFNY Cozumel 2023 runner up Christopher Torres (Mexico), GFNY Zapopan 2023 runner up Salvador Lemus (Transportes Lain Mexico), Zorros del Yucatan riders Alan Carrillo, José Alfredo Aguirre, Diego Galvez (all Mexico), GFNY multi champion Edwin Morel (Team Talent USA), former pro and multi national champ Luis Lemus (Mexico) as well as pro Ignacio Prado of Team Canel’s.  Hans’s race was cut short by a puncture shortly afterward.

The break worked well together through the first loop, consistently increasing their lead over the chase group. By the second loop—entering the second passage through the iconic King of the Wind (KOW) section—the leaders had extended their gap to more than four minutes.

After the KOW, a new attack re-shaped the front of the race. With 35 km to go, only Morel and Luis and Salvador Lemus remained in the lead, carving out a 90-second advantage. The work was with Morel though because he was clearly the strongest sprinter among them.  With just 10 km to the finish, the gap had fallen to under 30 seconds, and the chase group reeled the leaders back in with just 1km to go.

From there, attacks flew all the way to the line, setting up a dramatic, high-speed sprint where Galvez powered to victory in 3:31:09, edging out local Aguirre and Morel in a tight three-way finish.

In the women’s race, freshly crowned National Champion Andrea Ramirez from Pato Bike (Mexico) took the win in 03:47:11 followed by Tania Cruz (Colombia) and 2023 GFNY Cozumel Champion Ana Maria Hernandez (Mexico).

Next up on the GFNY calendar is the 4th edition of GFNY Puerto Rico which will take place on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

The race has received approval from the Mexican Cycling Federation and has been submitted to the UCI for inclusion in the 2027 UCI Road International Calendar.

The race format

GP Cozumel will be held in conjunction with GFNY Cozumel, built on the same innovative concept that defines Gran Premio NYC / GFNY NYC, which will celebrate its third edition on May 17, 2026. In Cozumel, professional riders will start first for a full lap of the island, racing past the waiting 3,000 GFNY riders assembled at the start area. Moments later, the GFNY Cozumel field will set off to complete two laps of the same course—sharing the same roads, conditions, and atmosphere as the professionals.

In “Sharing the Road – A New Model for Pros and their Fans”, sports business insider Chris Geiser highlighted why this concept resonates so strongly across all stakeholders. It delivers unparalleled visibility for sponsors by linking their brands directly to both elite competition and mass participation. For teams and host communities, it fosters deeper fan engagement, amplifies tourism impact, and establishes a sustainable event model that generates lasting economic and emotional returns.

Why Cozumel

Cozumel is the perfect host for this concept — an island that welcomes cyclists from around the globe with open arms, world-class roads, and unmatched hospitality,” says GFNY Mexico CEO Shaun Gad. “We’re grateful for the support of the Mexican Cycling Federation and the local authorities, whose collaboration makes it possible to bring international-level racing to Mexico in such a spectacular setting.”

The final registration of GP Cozumel will be reviewed by the UCI Management Committee later this year, with confirmation expected once the 2027 calendar is approved. Meanwhile, preparations are already underway to host an elite field of international professional and continental teams on the island’s fast and scenic course.

What’s next

With the inaugural Gran Premio NYC in May 2024, GFNY demonstrated that bringing professionals and amateurs together on the same course, at the same time, is both feasible and transformative.

“GFNY didn’t invent mass-participation cycling — but we’ve taken it far beyond its traditional roots in Italy and France,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “And while others have placed amateurs and pros on the same course, we were the first to make both races unfold simultaneously. And that’s where the magic happens. As we expand this concept to more GFNY events worldwide, we welcome and encourage others to do the same, because real change in cycling can only happen when more organisers join together to make the sport more open, connected, and inspiring for everyone.”

Adding a women’s pro race would elevate the event further. The proposed format would have women starting 45 minutes ahead of the men’s pro race, giving them their own stage. However, the extended road closures required for this addition increase costs by $100,000.

For those interested in supporting women’s racing, GFNY is inviting companies and organizations to help sponsor this important addition. Contact GFNY to discuss partnership opportunities.

12th edition of GFNY Cozumel this Sunday

The tropical island transforms into a road cycling festival for riders and families

New York, November 12, 2025 – This Sunday, cyclists from around the world will gather in Mexico’s Caribbean paradise for the 12th edition of GFNY Cozumel, Latin America’s largest cycling event. Riders will take on a scenic yet demanding 154.3 km course, renowned for its flat profile and strong coastal winds that push athletes to their limits.

“For the first time ever, the race uses the entire waterfront road of San Miguel for a visually spectacular straight shot to the finish,” says GFNY CEO Uli Fluhme. “And that’s just a small part of the preparation for bigger things to come next year, when we plan to hold GP Cozumel, a UCI pro race, just before the 3000 riders of GFNY. We have used this revolutionary format of GP and GFNY successfully since 2024 in NYC. It delivers unparalleled visibility for sponsors by linking their brands directly to both elite competition and mass participation. For teams and host communities, it fosters deeper fan engagement, amplifies tourism impact, and establishes a sustainable event model that generates lasting economic and emotional returns.

Race week brings a full schedule of activities centered around the Centro de Convenciones Cozumel. Highlights include the GFNY Cozumel Group Rides on Friday and Saturday, offering participants the opportunity to ride alongside former professional cyclists Raúl Alcalá and Luis Lemus.

On Saturday morning, little cyclists will take part in the GFNY Kids Cozumel race at 8:00 a.m., where they’ll enjoy their own mini-GFNY adventure designed just for them.

On race day, cyclists will be treated to breathtaking views of Cozumel’s turquoise waters and white sandy beaches, but they will also face the island’s headwinds.

With families and supporters lining the course, the island will once again transform into a true cycling festival, blending athletic excellence, tropical beauty, and the vibrant atmosphere that makes GFNY Cozumel one of the most anticipated cycling events of the year.
